The popular book “Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics” by Peter Liljedahl, published in 2020, promotes classroom strategies and routines that really get students engaged and thinking. During the eight meetings, teachers will discuss how they can encourage their deaf/hh mathematics students to do more thinking.
The book club will be led by ChongMin Lee, math teacher at the Metro School for the Deaf, and Dawn Hoyt Kidd, retired math teacher at the Texas School for the Deaf. Leaders will facilitate discussions in ASL of the topics in the book and how they apply to deaf education.
