DeafTEC offered a workshop June 17-21 entitled Writing in the Disciplines. Six teams of high school and community college teachers participated. Each team was made up of a STEM teacher and and an English teacher from each of our high school and community college partners. The workshop provided both theory and practice on how to infuse more writing into STEM courses, which has shown to result in improved student writing in all courses. Particpants will go on to train other teachers at their host institutions on this Writing in the Disciplines approach.
