University of Texas Research Opportunity for Deaf and Hearing High School Students

Both deaf and hearing students participated in a project at the University of Texas, taking a 5-week Introduction to Laboratory Science in Chemistry course in the evenings, and then participating in a research lab during the summer.  Pam Cook, Assistant Director of Education and Diversity at the University of Texas, administers funding for several Centers at UT, and has included deaf students in several science-related projects, including this one.

The video, developed in collaboration with the Texas School for the Deaf and UT, shows deaf and hearing students working together in a research setting, and serves as an educational model for  this type of successful integration.
